I was born and raised in Texas, but moved to New Jersey to attend college at Rutgers University.
I earned a B.S. in Economics from Rutgers, and then went on to earn an M.S. in Economics plus a Graduate Certificate in Women’s Studies.
After graduating from Rutgers, I worked as an economic forecaster at a private company, and then for the USDA Economic Research Services in Washington D.C.
My husband and I decided to move to Western North Carolina in 1997, shortly after our son was born. We have lived in the region since that time. We enjoy the beautiful landscapes of WNC, and outdoor activities such as hiking, riding bikes, and picnics.
In 2000, I decided to pursue additional college work to earn a CPA license. I attended night school for several years (while working and raising a family), but finally earned my CPA license in 2009.
I have worked in a variety of industries as an accountant, Controller, and CFO including government contractors, banking, hospitality, and more. But my true calling is working in the non-profit sector. I find satisfaction in making in the professional contributions I make at WNC Group Homes and Blue Ridge Area Foundation.
